Hey Android Community!
We’re thrilled to bring you a foundational update and a major shift in how you organize content in Anytype. We’re introducing a more structured, consistent and intuitive way to work with Types.
Now, layouts and properties are defined directly within a Type, and all associated objects automatically follow those settings – making your workspace more predictable and easier to manage.
Meet the new Anytype
Relations are now Properties
What were previously called Relations are now called Properties. Properties are defined at the Type level, not per individual object. While you can still edit property values on each object, the overall structure comes from its Type.
Properties that were once unique to individual objects will now appear as local properties. You can choose to keep them as-is or add them to the object’s Type if you’d like to make them consistent across similar objects.
Types Define Structure
Types now control the layout and properties of all associated objects. When you create an object of a certain Type, it will follow the same layout and include the same properties as others of that Type.
Templates Focus on Content
Templates no longer define properties or layout. They inherit the object’s settings and control the content, primarily organizing blocks.
Set is now called Query
More than just a rename – each Type page comes with a built-in inline Query, making it easier to access and organize a list of all related objects.
Special Icons for Types
You can now assign custom icons at the Type level, choosing from a dedicated collection to clearly distinguish Types from objects.
Quality of Life Improvements
Automatic Widget Creation
When a new first object of Type is created, a dedicated widget is automatically added to your Home Screen. It displays a subset of objects of that Type within the space, giving you quick access without extra setup.
Widgets are optional – once removed, it won’t reappear unless you add it manually. You can also disable automatic widget creation anytime in your Space Settings.
Redesigned System Widgets
All Objects and Bin are now system widgets, along with Favorites, Recently Edited and Recently Opened. This means you can add or remove them whenever you need, and place them wherever you want on your Space Home Screen.
Create Objects from Widgets
As a complement to automatic widget creation, you can now create new objects directly from widgets using the plus (+) button.
New Settings
Settings got a full makeover with a cleaner structure and clearer navigation for setup and customization. Also, you can now manage Object Types as well as Properties directly from the Space Settings.
HTTPS Links for Objects
Object links are now easier to share and open, even outside the app. When you tap Copy Link from the object menu, you’ll get a shareable HTTPS link. If the app is already installed, or the link is opened inside Anytype, it takes you straight to the object with no redirection. For shared spaces, the link also includes an invite so others can join instantly.
Fixes
Improved layouts for file and media objects.
Improved drag-and-drop behavior for widgets in edit mode with better responsiveness and haptic feedback.
